SimpleAds Theme Review

SimpleAds is a classified ads board theme for WordPress, and the name refers to how it feels to use. Under that clean interface sits a complete classifieds site – sections, custom fields, member accounts, payments, banners and feed imports – that stays easy to manage for the site owner and easy to post on for everyone else.

First impressions

Setup starts with a six-step wizard, and the demo importer fills the site with 12 sections, 17 car makes, 8 field groups, a region tree and around 195 sample ads. Demo photos are generated on your own server, so nothing is pulled from external hosts. Within a few minutes you are looking at a board that feels populated and real, which makes it much easier to judge how your own content will sit.

Browsing

Visitors can switch between four listing views: list, gallery, detailed and map. Filters apply without a page reload, with skeleton placeholders while results load. Columns sort by date and price. The map view supports geocoding and radius search, there is a compare feature for up to four ads, and a recently viewed strip helps people find their way back to something they liked.

Posting and accounts

Private sellers and companies get separate account types. Accounts are confirmed by email, phone numbers by one-time code, and Google and Facebook sign-in are available. Posting happens on the front end with drag-and-drop photo uploads, and each section can have its own fields – a flat asks for rooms and floor area, a bike asks for frame size.

The member dashboard includes ads, messages, saved searches, reviews and analytics. Companies get public pages with verified badges and appear in a searchable company directory, while sellers collect star ratings from buyers.

Earning from the board

Things I would highlight for anyone planning to monetise:

  • Per-ad packages with your own pricing and run length
  • Paid upgrades: bump, feature, urgent label, extend
  • Monthly business plans and per-category posting fees
  • Feature credits
  • Nine banner slots with targeting by section or area, date scheduling, weighting and impression, click and CTR reporting
  • CSV and XML feed import with column mapping, reference-number matching and scheduled re-sync

Stripe Checkout is used for payments, so card details never touch your server. If you switch payments off, every package becomes free – handy while you build up an audience.

Look and feel

Two design modes, Classic and Modern, twelve colour presets with custom primary and accent colours, an optional dark mode toggle, three header styles and four typefaces. Emails go out in branded HTML templates that pick up your logo and colours, and there is a test-email button so you can check them before a user does.

Under the hood

Ads are regular WordPress posts. Structured data for Product and Offer, OpenGraph and Twitter cards, clean sitemaps and automatic detection of Yoast and Rank Math are all in place. The templates are child-theme friendly, with hooks and filters throughout and an optional ACF integration.

Requirements are modest: WordPress 6.2+, PHP 7.4+ (8.1 to 8.4 recommended), MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.3+, HTTPS for payments and location features, and working outgoing email. Nineteen translations come in the box, from German and Spanish to Latvian, Greek and Ukrainian, each with correct plural forms.

Verdict

SimpleAds is a smart pick for a local or regional classifieds board where you want everything to just work from day one. It comes with a lifetime licence, an installation handbook, a developer guide and 12 months of support. More themes like it are available at CozyPlugins.
